What Is an Apostille and When Do You Need One?
An apostille is a certificate issued by the Secretary of State that verifies the authenticity of a public document for use in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. If you're sending documents overseas—whether for personal, legal, or commercial reasons—foreign authorities will require this form of authentication.
An apostille authenticates public documents, certifies the authenticity of the official signature on the document, identifies the capacity in which the person has acted, as well as the seal or stamp which the document bears.
